Optimum Credit joined the Welsh Financial Services Graduate Programme in 2015 and we were instrumental in helping launch the Welsh Data Science Graduate Programme in 2018. Both programmes offer an unrivalled opportunity for talented graduates to undertake a range of placements in participating companies. They also undertake a fully-funded Masters qualification.
Developing people is incredibly important to us at Optimum and a huge part of our culture. We were keen to join the consortium of companies that are part of the scheme. We quickly recognised the huge opportunities that the programmes offer – not only to the individuals who gain places but to the organisations who provide placements. Through our participation, we can access the very best upcoming talent: graduates who are keen to learn and are able to bring fresh, new perspectives to their roles in the business.
Since 2015, we have provided a total of 44 graduate placements across the two programmes, in a diverse range of roles including Compliance, Marketing, HR, Credit Risk, Finance, Change, Operations and more. During their time with us, each graduate benefits from a tailored development plan, coaching and mentoring from an experienced line manager – and gets to participate in all the other great benefits of working at Optimum.
What’s even better is that, as a result of the programme, so far, we’ve offered ten permanent roles in the business to graduates who originally joined us on one of our placements. They’ve been able to continue their learning and career development with us and bring further knowledge from their Masters studies to their new, permanent roles.
